Window Repairs

p1No job too big or to small, Supreme Glass can repair all your broken windows. We offer all the types of glass including obscure glass and safety glass. All our repairs are carried out to Australian Standard AUS1208, which mean that some windows must be replaced with safety glass.

FLOAT GLASS REPAIRS: Float glass is the most common glass and is used on most window replacements. It is available in a range of thicknesses from 2mm – 25mm and can be cut on site. Where possible this glass will be used when replacing your windows. However windows requiring safety glass, such as doors, windows adjacent to doors or windows below 60cm from the ground a safety glass will be used.

Laminated-Safety-GlassLAMINATED (SAFETY) GLASS: Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that holds together when shattered. When broken it is held in place by a pvb interlayer, between its two or more layers of glass. The interlayer keeps the layers of glass together even when broken, and its high strength prevents the glass from breaking up into large, sharp pieces. This produces a characteristic “spider web” cracking pattern when the impact is not enough to completely pierce the glass. Laminated glass is often used in storefronts, curtain walls and windows. The pvb interlayer also gives the glass a much higher sound insulation rating, due to the damping effect, and also blocks 99% of transmitted uv light. In some cases where laminated glass is not an option we can use toughened glass.

Tougnened-GlassTOUGHENED (SAFETY) GLASS:Toughened glass has been processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments. Tempering creates balanced internal stresses which cause the glass, when broken, to crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards. These granular chunks are less likely to cause harm & injury. Toughened glass is 4 – 5 times stronger than ordinary float glass.
It can still be broken, however if this does happen it shatters in to small pieces instead of sharp shards. Toughened glass must be cut to size before toughening.Typically it can take up to 5 working days to get toughened glass. In most cases we can temporarily board up your windows until the toughened glass is ready.
